Led the development of “MYSME Lady”, an innovative financing program for a government-linked development bank in Malaysia with a mission to support under-represented segments of the economy.
Using a structured innovation framework, guided and facilitated internal teams through customer research and product development, resulting in a unique offering for female solo micro-entrepreneurs.
Our credit program integrated community support for solo women entrepreneurs through exclusive access to MySME Lady Biz Club, alongside entrepreneur development programs, including business coaching and forums.
A streamlined application process required minimal collateral.
Developed the MySME Lady brand, with (MY) being shorthand for Malaysia.
Led the development of “MYSMExport”, a new financing product to address Malaysian SME exporters, boosting international trade opportunities.
Leading internal teams through a 12 week structured innovation framework, involving customer surveys and focus groups, we uncovered an unmet needs for SME exporters. Key among those being a lack of information and guidance in international trade. By entering into a strategic partnership with MATRADE, a Malaysian federal government entity, we were able to provide successful applicants with priority access to trade support programs. The credit product was structured to provide collateral-free working capital financing.
reimagined pricing strategy
Led a transformative 16-week strategy project for a Malaysian manufacturing firm specialising in security and access gates, redefining pricing strategy.
Initially facing declining sales attributed to low-cost competitors, we reframed the challenge through rigorous customer research and structured problem-solving. Despite the client’s superior product quality, recognised in customer surveys and industry literature, the hefty upfront costs were now deterring potential buyers.
Through an intensive structured framework innovation process of ideation, customer research, and testing, we reimagined the entire business model. The result was a shift from traditional sales to a subscription-based model, offering 3-5 year leases.
This innovative approach incorporated a maintenance program, end-of-use removal, refurbishment, and potential redeployment options.
By re-thinking about the issue of high initial costs and introducing a circular economy element, we not only solved the immediate pricing obstacle but also created a more sustainable, waste-reducing business model.
This strategic pivot allowed the client to leverage their superior product quality into a compelling value proposition, effectively countering low-cost competitors while opening new revenue streams and enhancing customer relationships.
